Private initiative from South Africa to develop a commercial satellite launcher To the growing list of private and commercial space initiatives, a South African initiative to develop a satellite launcher known as Cheetah is added.

The launcher is supposed to be powered by liquid fuel, and in its base model, Cheetah 1, to launch up to 1000 kg into low Earth orbit. The launcher is an initiative of a South African company called marcom, which intends to become a launch supplier for the South African space program, as well as sell launch services to space agencies and satellite operators around the world. Additional satellite launchers in the series will also include solid boosters.

The company intending to develop the launcher was established in 2002, and currently receives the support of the South African government, especially in light of the enactment of a space law in the country, and the acceleration of the space sector through the activities of the South African Space Agency. The configuration of the launcher is two-stage, and according to its developers, 95 percent of it will be produced in South Africa. At this stage the developer company is still raising capital, and no launch date of the new launcher has been announced.

  1. You are absolutely right, I expected you to translate my mood when I wrote this.
    Thanks!
And I still think that anyone who thinks that everything is money money money and all his motives are like that, is fundamentally wrong.

  2. Why? What kind of question is this? We are talking about private initiatives of capitalists and resource thieves. A very common issue in a world that is all business, internet and all questionable is "respectable".
But since at the very least there is a population explosion from many hypocritical attempts at "artificial life extension" we also need solutions for how to transfer part of the world's population to a space cubicle, to a fantasy of interstellar travel, to conquering planets.. and transfer to the world of wireless silence..
And to your question: there are Israelis who are "dying" for this, so they make combinations with South Africa, the USA, Russia... and any place there they can enter and make money, money, money...
