Russia plans to "sweep" space

In Russia, they are planning to build a spacecraft costing about 2 billion dollars that will clean the space from the remnants of satellites and types of garbage that surround the earth and another spacecraft that will repel dangerous asteroids

In Russia, they are planning to build a spaceship costing about 2 billion dollars that will clean the space from the remnants of satellites and types of garbage that surround the earth, because there is a constant danger of collision or damage to spaceships and satellites, as these parts multiply. This is according to the Facebook page of the Roscosmos space agency.

The Russians do not yet explain how the spacecraft will operate, but the Russian Missile Agency Energy estimates that within a decade it will enter into experimental operation and in 2023 it will begin practical operation.

The spacecraft is designed for a lifespan of about ten years, during which time it will handle about 600 broken satellites in geosynchronous orbit - the orbit where the communication satellites are, and will ultimately sink them in the ocean in a controlled manner, without there being any danger to inhabited areas on Earth.

Viktor Sinievski from Energia says that the company is also in the process of designing an interceptor spacecraft that will destroy the dangerous objects making their way towards the Earth.

It is not stated how the spacecraft will destroy dead satellites and other space junk and steer them into a fading orbit so that the objects will burn up in the atmosphere, or whether it will suck them into it. One thing for sure is good that someone is thinking about treating space debris and asteroid debris and is investing more than a few rubles in it.

  1. The Russians are more aware of the quality of the vodka than the quality of the environment.

  2. There are no free gifts, certainly not from the Russians, whose environmental awareness is not among the highest in the world.

  3. No joke - every satellite contains significant amounts of precious metals - from gold, silver and platinum to rare-earth metals... these are tons!
Have a nice day, my very innocent brothers!

  4. I find it hard to believe that the Russians will do something good for humanity. I think the whole thing will remain a joke.

  5. This is certainly a good excuse for the Russians to test and perfect the technology of intercepting satellites. But that's how it is in ecology.
It is difficult to cause the cleaning of infections without any incentive (usually financial)

  6. Cleanliness is to move dirt from one place to another.
    To 5:
In fact, there is no such thing as dirt in nature, because we define dirt as a product of man's hands that he no longer wants.
Therefore man is necessarily the only one who can get dirty

  7. Pay attention to the fact that humans, wherever they go, pollute the oceans and seas, the land, the air and even outer space - simply amazing!!! in the negative sense of the word

  8. It is not large objects, from the size of a large table to a small bus. And combat capability is the last thing they want, exploding a satellite ends up in millions of small pieces that continue on the same trajectory, which is even worse..

  9. It seems to me that the Russians have found a good way to hide spaceships with combat capabilities (satellite interception)
