With the opening of the "ILSI-Biomed Israel 2011" week yesterday (Monday, May 23, 2011), the country's president, Shimon Peres, announced the establishment of a new, international center that will deal with the research of the human brain and the promotion of the field of neurotechnology. The center, defined as a non-profit organization, will be headed (voluntarily) by the entrepreneur Dr. Rafi Gedron, founder and founder of Chromatis, which was sold in 2000 to Lucent for 4.8 billion, as well as representatives from the Israeli life sciences industry, senior academics, doctors, the chief scientist and the president's office the state

In the opening speech, Peres said that in the early XNUMXs, when he began promoting nanotechnology research in Israel, people did not really know what he was talking about and were skeptical of the fact that the field of nanotechnology could be developed in Israel. "Today we are considered one of the most respected nano centers in the global arena," says Peres, "and this is exactly the right time to 'attack' the next goal - a global center that will lead the development of technologies based on brain research and will ultimately help millions of people around the world, stroke victims, Alzheimer's and even blindness and deafness."

President Peres took advantage of the work in the audience of senior members of the global and Israeli life sciences industry and called on all those present to join the initiative of the new center and support its success. "It will be a center without national borders, without politics and prejudice, with all that will guide it is activity for the welfare of all humanity."

Peres also noted that when you look at Israel's situation in the field of patents, you can't help but feel proud: the number of patents in the field of medical devices granted to Israeli companies places it in first place in the world in relation to the size of the population, and in fourth place in the absolute number of patents. In the field of biopharma, Israel is ranked second in the world in patents in relation to the size of the population and number 8 in the number of patents in absolute number. Israel is even ranked first in the world in the number of patents granted to the life sciences industry as a percentage of all patents written by Israeli inventors.

The "ILSI-Biomed Israel 2011" week will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year, during which it became an international conference in which the biggest (and hottest) names in the world from the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical devices take part every year. The organizers of the event, the Israeli Life Sciences Association - ILSI - and the "Kens" company, estimate that among the thousands of expected participants - CEOs and executives of biopharma and medical device companies, scientists and researchers, entrepreneurs, shapers of public opinion in the field, managers of venture capital funds and private investors - There will also be over 1,000 guests from abroad.

This week is the main annual event of the life sciences industry in Israel. It includes an international professional conference with the participation of the best experts (CEOs and executives of biopharma and medical device companies, scientists and researchers, entrepreneurs, researchers, public opinion shapers in the field, venture capital fund managers and private investors) from Israel and the world, and an exhibition that presents the hottest innovations . 1. One point, I didn't understand your strange response, what do you think brain research is for?

  2. There is no doubt that this is an issue that is going to cause a revolution in the coming decades.

  3. Enough of this lie. Brain research is not interesting because it might lead to curing diseases like Alzheimer's, it is true that such claims attract budgets, but the truth is that scientific research is not intended to benefit the public.
The benefit is a total side and secondary profit.
