The Technology Incubator Committee headed by the Chief Scientist approved the establishment of 6 new incubator companies with a grant of NIS 10 million

The active field in the greenhouses is medical equipment

The Technology Incubator Committee, headed by the chief scientist, Dr. Eli Ofer, approved at its last meeting six new projects in life sciences, software and aquaculture.
Renee Pridor, director of the greenhouse program: the type of projects approved by the committee reflects the scope of activity of the technological fields in the greenhouses. The most active field in the incubators is the field of medical devices, which is about 40%. At the same time, the percentage of projects related to biotechnology and pharma is increasing, which about 6 years ago was 7% and today it is about 20%.

Below are the approved projects for development in greenhouses:

Life science
A catheter with a unique structure that enables the treatment of cerebral events - Hamma Niyot, Yakneam.
Stroke is one of the main causes of death and disability in the Western world with approximately 500,000 cerebrovascular events per year in the United States. The company intends to develop a catheter with a unique structure that allows treatment of these events.

Device for improving kidney functions - Hamma Meshgav, Gush Segev.Development of a device, the first of its kind in the world, to treat and prevent the deterioration of chronic kidney failure.

Innovative solutions for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases - Red Biomed Greenhouse, Tel Aviv.Today, most drugs administered systemically are salicylate derivatives. Administering steroids in high doses causes side effects, and they cannot be used for a long time. The advantage of the technology that will be developed will be in the administration of steroid drugs in a formulation containing negatively charged liposomes. The new treatment will allow the administration of steroids in a targeted way at a lower dose and for a short time.

Non-invasive methods for rapid detection and identification of microorganisms - Van Leer Greenhouse, Jerusalem.Non-invasive methods for detecting and identifying microorganisms in secretions and body fluids such as cough, saliva, blood, urine and others. The methods are based on a unique technology combined with spectral analysis developed by the project company. The technology allows receiving an immediate answer during the patient's visit, without the need for prior preparation of the samples.

Software - a system for identifying and repairing databases - Van Leer incubator, Jerusalem. An innovative software product for optimizing the performance of database systems. Application performance and data availability are among the most critical and painful issues in organizations today. The direct meaning of performance problems is lost business opportunities, increased costs of development, maintenance, hardware, software, and manpower. The product will save organizations a significant part of these costs.
Aquaculture - technologies for advanced processing of seaweed.
o Hamma Mofat in Yehuda, Kiryat Arba.
Technology for the industrialized production of high-protein food (meat substitute) based on marine macroalgae. The product will contain a high level of protein and will contain, in addition to the protein, natural substances from the original algae such as: vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, etc.

Dr. Eli Ofer, the chief scientist, noted that in addition to these projects, the greenhouses committee approved support for the third year for the Novotyr company from the MITB greenhouse in Kiryat Shmona, which develops inhibitory drugs as a treatment for cancer. Ofer explains that the Office of the Chief Scientist has defined the field of biotechnology as a preferred field, therefore biotechnological incubator projects that have completed two years in the incubator are eligible to submit an application for support for a third year in the incubator as well.

Renee Pridor, director of the greenhouse program, stated that the type of projects approved by the committee reflects the scope of activity of the technological fields in the greenhouses. The most active field in the incubators is the field of medical devices, which is about 40%.
