Japan and Israel today signed a memorandum of understanding to expand scientific cooperation between the countries. The agreement was signed today in Jerusalem by the Director General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Space Ido Sharri and the President of the Japanese Science Agency Michiharu Nakamura.

The scientific cooperation with Japan began in 2008 and today the investment amounts in joint researches stand at 1,230,000 dollars per year which is divided equally between the countries for the last five years. Earlier today, during a meeting held at the Ministry of Science with Nakamura, the Director General of the Ministry of Science suggested to his counterpart to increase this amount in the fields of applied and engineering research and the parties agreed to continue the dialogue on the matter.
