Dolev Dotan, a researcher from IBM's research laboratory in Haifa, is taking part in a joint voluntary project of IBM employees from different countries, to protect wildlife and the environment in Africa and to promote tourism to Tanzania. A team of IBM volunteers from all over the world, including Dolev Dotan, is assisting the Association of Tanzanian Tour Operators in a comprehensive upgrade of the official website that serves tourists and travel agencies, and enables the quick locating of a reliable local tour operator.

In addition to the cooperation with the tourism association, volunteers from IBM collaborate with the African Wildlife Foundation, the African Wildlife Foundation, which operates in Tanzania. IBM's team is developing new business models that will make it possible to promote ecological and sustainable tourism, ensure the protection of the environment, and ensure benefit to the local communities as well as to investors in a number of areas related to the management of the world of wildlife.

Dotan noted that "volunteering as part of IBM's social commitment program is an experience of a lifetime. The opportunity to work in collaboration with people around the world, to experience different cultures, all while helping the economy of a developing country - is a perfect combination. I believe that our assistance to the Tanzania Tourism Association is an important step towards offering services to the members of this association, which will allow them to grow, improve and prosper."

IBM's team of volunteers in Tanzania, operating within the company's corporate responsibility program, includes employees from the USA, Japan, Hungary and Israel - who began their journey by building a comprehensive program for international communication and a new website that will offer an efficient searchable database.

The geographical and cultural diversity of the countries of origin from which the team of volunteers comes, combined with their proven experience in the fields of information systems, software research and development, business development and marketing communications - was placed at the service of promoting tourism to Tanzania.

The task force program for IBM's social commitment, IBM Corporate Service Corps, which was invested at the beginning of the year, is designed to provide communities in developing countries with the technological and business expertise required to drive innovation processes. As part of the program, teams of IBM employees are sent to various developing countries, bringing with them the methodologies and expertise they have acquired over the years. Each such project team works in the country to which it is sent in a concentrated manner for four weeks - in a format that encourages cooperation across geographical and cultural borders.
