Dassault Systems  announced today that the French manufacturer hopium Uses on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in the cloud For the design and development of the initial prototypes for a hydrogen-powered luxury vehicle.

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides Hopium with design, engineering and simulation applications in a collaborative business cloud experience. Hopium leverages the knowledge and skill of its experts into a one-to-one data model, in an "end-to-end" innovation environment: all the way from idea to prototype, while accelerating design processes, streamlining and optimizing resources. As the development of the Machina progresses towards a launch in 2025, the company will be able to expand the use of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform according to its needs.

"We have a pioneering vision to develop a new type of vehicle designed to deal with the main environmental challenges of our time. As far as these challenges are concerned, the clock is ticking. We need agile solutions and advanced functionality to quickly experiment with complex ideas such as embedded electronics and optimized storage volumes", said Olivier Lombard, founder of Hopium. "By fully integrating all our activities into Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform, our team was able to work securely anytime, anywhere, and successfully create our first prototype in just 8 months."

Hopium Machina, the vehicle model developed inspired by Olivier Lombard, combines innovative design, exceptional range and record-breaking charging time in a high-performance vehicle, all with zero emissions. Lombard is the youngest winner of the 24th Le Mans competition. The integrated fuel cell system produces the energy needed to operate the vehicle and emits only water. The vehicle can be refilled in three minutes, which will be enough for more than 500 horsepower, for a speed of 230 km/h and a distance of 1,000 km.

"Hopium is a game changer" said Lawrence Montanari, VP, Transportation and Mobility, Dassault Systèmes. "The proof of this is our latest achievement - the development of the prototype in only 8 months. Hopium and its compelling vision, is now conquering an emerging field. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform in the cloud allows the company to develop hydrogen-powered, connected and autonomous transportation. The teams at Hopium, working on the development of the Machina, will greatly benefit from the best technology in the industry, from Dassault Systèmes. This technology is currently used by almost every electric vehicle developer in the world, and helps this industry move forward.
