Fragments of a large meteor that lit up the sky of Western Canada - mainly Alberta and Saskatchewan last week were found on the night between Thursday and Friday of this week. Planetary scientist and geologist Dr. Alan Hildebrand, and research student Ellen Milley believe that thousands of pieces of the meteorite that weighed about 10 tons spread over an area of about 20 square kilometers. The researchers did not reveal the exact area where the fragments were found, but only said that in general it is an area south of the community called Lloydminster, on the border between Alberta and Saskatchewan. Thousands of people saw the meteor cross the sky and explode on November 20. Countless security cameras and a number of amateur photographers who had just the right camera available. According to Hildebrand, this is one of the largest meteors seen in the country in the last decade.
The object was observed on November 20, around 17:30 local time (the same as US mountain time). The meteor split into several pieces in a series of explosions. These photos were taken by Andy Barlett, from the window of his home in Edmonton using a Canon A510 camera.
