Prof. Daniel Weiss of the Technion was appointed to the position of Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Science and Technology

Prof. Weiss, head of the Technion-wide program for autonomous systems, responded to the request of the Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz, and was appointed to the position of Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Science and Technology. In this role, he will head the Science Administration and, among other things, head the Forum of the Chief Scientists of the Government Ministries. Weiss replaces Prof. David Mandelovich in his position.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz said: "This is a person with extensive experience in the complex fields in which the Ministry of Science and Technology deals, who served as a member of the Steering Committee of the Israel Space Agency (ISA), and closely accompanied the various processes in the Ministry over the years and in the field of space In a special way. The minister thanked Prof. Mendelovitz, the outgoing chief scientist, for his unique contribution to the ministry during his tenure, for the important processes he led, and especially noted his matter-of-fact and professional approach. Prof. Mandelovich will continue to closely accompany the work of the office as a scientific advisor to the CEO of the office, Menachem Greenblum.

Prof. Weiss began his studies at the Technion in 1960 in the Faculty of Aeronautical Engineering. Served as a faculty member at the Technion in the Faculty of Aeronautical Engineering since 1973, and appointed full professor since 1983, research professor since 2002. Member of the American National Academy of Engineering, fellow of the American Physical Society. His areas of expertise are diverse and include aerodynamics, marine sciences, space sciences, and science policy . He held several senior positions at the Technion: Dean of the Faculty of Aeronautical Engineering 1987-1988. Director of a loyal institution for advanced research in 1990-1995. Dean of the School for Certified Studies 1996-1998. Provost (Rector) 1998-2000.

Vis served as a board member in the companies: Beit Shemesh Motors, the Air Industry and the Sea and Lake Research Institute. He is currently also the chairman of the National Committee for Space Infrastructures.

Prof. Weiss published one book and more than 140 articles in the scientific press.

    No one was ever questioned about his belief in truth or nonsense.
    Avital's dismissal resulted from his conscious defiance against logic and in favor of nonsense. He also threatened to brainwash the students with his nonsense and was therefore fired.

  2. It has nothing to do with faith... the chief scientist should keep the mystical beliefs at home..
