Following the increasing threats of terrorism, many private companies are ready to invest large sums of money to improve and upgrade their protection and identification systems. One of the most important and burning problems is the ability to identify people, and it is precisely in this field that the start-up company ID-U Biometrics, which specializes in the field of homeland security, operates. The company is developing an innovative system in the field of biometric identification, which is able to identify people by the way they move their pupils. The company was established in April 2006, and is still in research and development processes. It is estimated that the company will enter the market within a few months.

It is true that there are already systems capable of identifying people based on the retina of the eye or a biometric photo, but according to Dr. Dafna Pelati Wasserman, CEO of the company, these methods can be faked relatively easily, "The biometric photo or identification using the retina are static things, The face or the retina of the eye is photographed and the person is identified based on these photographs. With these means it is possible to fake images and find ways to photogenically copy the retina. Our technology is dynamic and therefore it is very difficult to falsify the findings."

According to Wasserman, each person's pupils move differently. "Our system is equipped with software that studies the movements, and later makes an identification based on the changes and movements of the pupils, and these are almost impossible to fake." The system works in such a way that the cameras capture the eye movements - while the subject is looking at a moving object, and the movements are processed and accommodated. The identification of the person is done by an optical system that examines the eye movement and compares it with the stored information. The system works on the basis of smart algorithms that know how to compare the signals coming from the camera that takes pictures of the person you want to identify, and compare them with the existing data.

The new system is suitable for the homeland security market thanks to its technological sophistication, but it is also adapted to commercial needs. In the days of ever-increasing use of credit cards, it is more necessary than ever to identify people. Unlike military and government systems, in which the ways of identifying the person are done in a controlled environment such as an entrance gate, the needs of the commercial system are broader, and therefore there is a need for systems that are both small in size and easy to operate.

  1. Well done, there is no doubt that there is truth in the sentence: "The Jewish mind invents patents for us"
