An official delegation from the Boston area in the state of Massachusetts in the USA is expected to arrive as a business guest at the ILSI-Biomed 2011 conference and exhibition, which will be held in Tel Aviv between May 23-25, to hear about the hottest innovations that are developing in Israel and to look for potential investment avenues. The delegation will appoint senior managers from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, MassMEDIC for initiatives and interests in the field of medical devices, and MassBio, a leading incubator for life sciences companies in the Massachusetts area. About two weeks ago, a delegation from Massachusetts visited Israel led by the governor of Massachusetts, and following an invitation to the ILSI conference received from the Minister of Science and Technology, Shalom Simhon, as well as meetings with the heads of ILSI and other relevant parties held by the delegation in Israel, it was decided to participate in Biomed Israel.

The delegation is expected to be led by Susan Windham-Bannister, CEO and President of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center. Robert Koechlin, president of the Massachusetts State Council on Biotechnology, and Tom Sommer, president of MassMEDIC, are also expected to participate. The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center is a government center that invests in research and development in the fields of life sciences and biomed. The center recently received over a billion dollars from the state governor - money that should be used for investments in the field.

The MassBio incubator is one of the most advanced in the US, with over 600 fruitful companies from the fields of biotechnology and academia, and privately owned, which is always looking for new information and additional companies.
MassMEDIC is a leading and multi-resourced private organization to advance the interests of the medical device community in Massachusetts, while developing plans to increase business volume, and R&D and technology transfer opportunities.

Yair Sheeran, the economic coordinator for the West Coast in the USA on behalf of the Foreign Trade Administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is happy about the official visit: "We are working on all fronts to create positive relations with the various North American countries, and to get them to be interested in Israel and to want to invest here. Biomed Week, which has been held for the tenth year, is an excellent anchor to bring large companies to it, and there is no doubt that the senior officials who come to Israel will like what they see."

The "ILSI-Biomed Israel 2011" week will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year, during which it became an international conference in which the biggest (and hottest) names in the world from the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical devices take part every year. The organizers of the event, the Israeli Life Sciences Association - ILSI - and the "Kens" company, estimate that among the thousands of expected participants - CEOs and executives of biopharma and medical device companies, scientists and researchers, entrepreneurs, shapers of public opinion in the field, managers of venture capital funds and private investors - There will also be over 1,000 guests from abroad.

The "ILSI - Biomed Israel 2011" week will be held between May 23 and 25 at the David Intercontinental and Dan Panorama hotels in Tel Aviv.
