An achievement for the Israeli delegation in the International Mathematics Olympiad: in the competition that ended last night, in Hong Kong, China, the Israeli mathematics team won 6 Olympic medals, 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
The International Mathematical Olympiad included 109 countries, and at the end of it, Israel was ranked in the respectable 22nd place, a jump of 18 places in the overall ranking compared to 40, when Israel was ranked in XNUMXth place. First place was won by the United States team, followed by South Korea (second place) and China (Third place).

The Israeli delegation included 6 students: Yaron Brodetzky from De-Shalit High School in Rehovot (silver medal), Yoav Avidan from Ben Zvi High School in Kiryat Ono (silver medal), Omri Far from Ali Assaf High School in Beit Berel (silver medal), Boaz Goberman from De-Shalit High School in Rehovot ( bronze medal), Liam Hanani from Urban High School III in Modi'in (bronze medal) and Dor Metzer from Leo Beck High School in Haifa (bronze medal).

The coach of the team, Lev Radziwilovski, said that he is proud of the trainees who worked hard throughout the year and achieved excellent results: "Most of the members of the team participated in the Olympics last year as well and there is no doubt that the experience they gained in the Olympic competitions helped them a lot to succeed in this year's competition. In addition, throughout the year we did a very good preparation, the students put in a lot of effort and I am very proud of the good result, although it is always possible to do better."

Prof. Ilon Solan, the team's academic advisor and a member of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Tel Aviv University, added: "We are proud of the team, which is a role model for all the youth in Israel. Through the Olympic competitions we are training the future generation that will stand at the forefront of Israeli technology and will serve as a locomotive that will attract our good students to be even better."

Physics: The Israeli team was ranked 19th overall in the competition held in Zurich

An achievement for the Israeli delegation at the International Physics Olympiad: In the competition that ended last night, in Zurich, Switzerland, the Israeli physics team won 4 Olympic medals, 3 silver medals, a bronze medal and a commendation.
The International Olympiad in Physics included 87 countries, and at the end Israel was ranked in the respectable 19th place (third among the Western countries). First place was won by the Chinese team, followed by South Korea (second place) and Taiwan (third place). The USA (5th) and Germany (17th) are the only two Western countries that were ranked above Israel.

The Israeli delegation included 5 students: Ido Friedman from Eshkol High School in Kfar Hirok (silver medal), Omri Cohen from Urban High School III in Modi'in (silver medal), Chen Machel from the Hebrew Reali High School in Haifa (silver medal), Nir Mai from Urban High School II in Modi'in (bronze medal ), Nitzan Shapira from the Western Valley High School in Kibbutz Yifat Zion to praise.

The head of the delegation Dr. Eli Raz, Department of Physics and Optical Engineering, Ort Brauda Academic College and a lecturer at the Technion expressed great satisfaction with the impressive achievement: "This is a great achievement, the team competed at the highest levels and achieved a very respectable result.
