The broadcast will be held in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology and will include a variety of experiments and activities for the whole family on Tuesday, 6 Tishrei, Sukkot, October 10, between the hours of 00:12-30:XNUMX

Despite the restrictions of the Corona virus, the long-standing tradition is not abandoned at the President's House, and for the last time in his tenure, President Reuven (Ruby) Rivlin invites the entire House of Israel to be hosted in the traditional President's Tabernacle.

The Sukkah will be held this year in a virtual format under the title "Science Games in the President's Tabernacle" in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology and Minister Yizhar Shai on Tuesday, 6 Tishrei, Sukkot Square, October 10, between the hours of 00:12 and 30:XNUMX.

The President of the State invited the citizens of Israel to stay in his sukkah and said: "Every year we hosted the Sukkat of the President in the President's House, the People's House in Israel, it is the People's Sukkah. To this sukkah - all citizens of Israel are invited, and all are equal. Every year I was happy to meet the people of Israel in the sukkah, in all its shades, secular, religious and ultra-Orthodox, from the city and the countryside, Jews and Arabs, from the north, the center, and the south - a colorful and magnificent human mosaic. This year the fight against the corona virus prevents us from meeting face to face, but technology allows us to continue the tradition even if in a different way.

We pray and say: 'He who spread Sukkat Shalom upon us and upon all his people Israel, and upon Jerusalem'. Indeed, during this period, Sukkot Shalom is an especially important blessing. Only when we are together, supporting each other can we face challenges such as those that the epidemic presents us. This year our Sukkah at the President's House is not only a Sukkah of Peace, it is also a Sukkah of Science. Those who stay in our sukkah will enjoy activities and particularly interesting scientific experiences! I invite you to visit, learn and enjoy. Happy Sukkot to you, my dears."

Minister of Science and Technology Yizhar Shai thanked President Rivlin for the cooperation and said: "We are living in a challenging time, when we are unable to observe the holiday mitzvot and host friends and family in Sukkot. The epidemic does impose social isolation on us, but the wonders of technology allow us to continue the tradition and unite for a joint celebration in the People's House. It is only fitting that at a time when we are facing an invisible and stateless enemy, we will together raise a miracle to science and the Israeli scientists who are at the forefront of fighting the virus. It is a great honor for the Ministry of Science and Technology and for me to be the virtual hospital of the Honorable President of the State, and we will be happy if all the people of Israel join us on Tuesday for a celebration of scientific and technological inspiration."

The broadcaster will be hosted by Dodo Erez and Shira Levy and will be attended by guests from the worlds of science, space and technology, including Nobel laureates, scientists and researchers, the children of the Israeli robotics team, members of the Horizon community, Tevel students (students who build satellites) and also the singer Agam Bohbut who will perform during it. Among the various activities, the participants will try scientific riddles, home experiments from the fields of science, space and technology, trivia questions, and all this with the active participation of the young viewers during the broadcast.

For the convenience of participants, the various activities can be found at: www.sukkot-president-science.co.il

You can also connect through the websites of the President's House and the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels of the President, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Israel Space Agency. What is World Space Week?

World Space Week - is an international event that was established according to a UN resolution (within the framework of the committee for civil activity in the field of space that operates in it). The resolution sets the dates of the week for October 4, the day of the launch of the first Sputnik satellite launched by Russia in 1957, and October 10 - the day of signing the Space Treaty at the United Nations, a treaty that regulates the activities of the various countries in space for peaceful purposes.

Throughout the world, the events are noted as part of a diverse educational activity, as well as part of cultural events such as concerts, parties, lectures in bars, competitions and challenges, and the use of digital media to spread messages and content. World Space Week was held in Israel under the leadership of the Israel Space Agency in the Ministry of Science and Technology and previously included events for the general public at observatories, lectures in bars, activity complexes with experiential content, etc. This year, due to the quarantine and the restrictions of the Corona virus, we will conduct all activities online.
