Carbon Mapper Coalition

This visualization shows one of the Carbon Mapper coalition's Tanager satellites, the first of which was launched on August 16. Tanager-1 will use imaging spectrometer technology developed at JPL to measure greenhouse gas emissions from point sources. Credit: Planet Labs PBC.

NASA launches pollutant emission monitoring satellite: Tanager-1 that will locate the causes of the climate crisis

The mission, developed by the Carbon Mapper coalition, is designed to locate and quantify emission sources with high precision, and contribute significantly to efforts to combat climate change. The data from the satellite will help identify excess emissions and promote data-based environmental strategies
