The Innovation Authority approves the establishment of three new R&D centers with a budget of 150 million shekels. Aviv Zaevi, Director of the Technological Infrastructure Sector of the Innovation Authority: "In an era where we are all engaged in technological developments that deal with the threats of today and tomorrow, we are proud to also think about the technology that will enable Israel to Growth in 5-7 years

The Research Committee of the Technological Infrastructure Division of the Innovation Authority gave the green light to the submission of detailed plans for three new industrial academy associations. The associations will engage in the development of technological infrastructure in the areas of SHOB systems for autonomous vehicles in the metropolis (Andromeda association), quantum communication and material processing in industry with a powerful laser (Advanced Materials Processing Association). The three associations will receive funding for a total amount of 150 million NIS for a period of three years.
Aviv Zaevi, director of the Innovation Authority's technological infrastructure arena: "In an era in which we are all engaged in technological developments that deal with the threats of today and tomorrow, we are proud to also think about the technology that will enable Israel to have engines of growth in 5-7 years. This is an era in which we will share the transportation space with smart autonomous tools , in which Israeli industry will continue to produce in Israel only if they are able to adapt their production lines to the use of advanced materials and high precision and in an era where the protection of information channels becomes difficult and expensive"
Maged Andromeda - "Excuse me, computer, can you please move your car out of my parking lot"
The Andromeda Conglomerate will deal with the development of a generic technological infrastructure in the areas of SHOB systems for managing autonomous vehicle fleets in the metropolis. This conglomerate is a joint conglomerate with the Innovation Authority and the Department of Smart Transportation Prime Minister, financed by them. The association will focus on the development of an end-to-end generic technological infrastructure that will allow managing fleets of mobile and diverse autonomous machines from multiple manufacturers, service providers and operators in an urban environment and not urban
The association's developments will allow, if necessary and in real time, remote intervention and control of vehicles in autonomous vehicle fleets, by artificial intelligence systems and/or human operators. Maged Andromeda will be led by the companies Liveu, BWE, mPrest, RGO Robotics, DriveU, Cognata, Israel Aerospace Industries and Elbit, alongside leading research groups from academia.
Dr. Anat Bonstein, Head of the Smart Transportation Directorate at the Prime Minister's Office: "We are proud to be partners in this innovative venture within the framework of all the activities we support in order to push the Israeli autotech industry forward and to continue its position as a world leader. The promotion of this association is another step that illustrates The ability of Israeli industry to create and provide advanced solutions for the field of smart transportation."
Advanced Materials Processing Association - "Nationalization of powerful laser technologies in the service of the Israeli metal industry"
The Advanced Material Processing Association will develop tools for planning high-power laser material processing processes with the help of advanced simulation for the definitions of a large number of production variables and alloy compositions. These will allow industrial companies to work more precisely and flexibly.
Moshe Abrahami - Director of the Industrial Sector and the Associations Program at the Innovation Authority explains, "The Association is able to make use of the security development capabilities of the powerful laser industry in Israel, using supercomputing capabilities, in order to design robots that operate based on accurate task modeling to perform cutting and welding activities that were not can be carried out in Israel so far."
The industrial companies Pelsan, Sasa, Rafael, Iaiai Aerospace, Beit Shemesh Motors, Israel Shipyards and Lordan are partners in Maged, along with the R&D companies Ricor, Sivan Technologies and Ofir Optronics, which will provide the technological envelope of the laser and the automation systems. Also, partners in Maged groups Academy from the Technion and other leading universities.
Quantum Communications Group - "The goal: reducing costs and improving quantum encryption"
A quantum communication association will be established. This association will focus on the research and development of quantum communication technologies in three descriptors: communication systems for server farms; Passage of information from a single communication link to the network; and a secure communication system for transferring encryption keys. The association will be integrated within the national quantum program led by Dr. Tal David, which was approved this year by the Telam Forum, and will be financed jointly by the Innovation Authority and PATA.
Leading companies from the industry, including Elishra, Mellanox, OPSys and the start-up company Quantum LR, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense - Ministry of Defense, are partners in the Quantum Communications Association. In addition to the industry, leading academic and law groups from the Hebrew University, the Technion and more will also be partners in the association.
