The space shuttle Discovery landed safely at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, tonight (Saturday 23/12) at 00:32 Israel time (17:32 local time on Friday).

The ferry as photographed on its way to FloridaNASA had to land Discovery at the latest on Saturday US time, because otherwise the fuel reservoir used by the shuttle's electrical system could run out.

This brought to an end a complex mission riddled with failures, including a foam impact during launch, a micro meteor in the left wing, and problems with the folding of the space station's old solar collectors, which necessitated the addition of a fourth spacewalk to the mission.
