The delegation from Akron in the state of Ohio in the USA will offer millions of dollars to Israeli Biomed companies, which will take part in the "ILSI-Biodem 2008" week, which will be held at the end of May in Tel Aviv. The program, which is worth 1.6 billion dollars for a period of 10 years, is mainly intended for the life sciences industry - among the grants: up to 26 million dollars for each company, XNUMX million dollars per year for research scholarships, connecting the companies to venture capital funds, providing training by business and technology experts, easing the burden the tax, and assistance in obtaining places for research and equipment for the development of medical innovations.

According to Akron Mayor Donald Floskovlik, who will head the delegation for Biomed Week, "The state of Ohio turned the recruitment of biotechnology and medical companies into a national project and established a biomedical center in Akron, Ohio, designed to provide academic medical resources and local finance. In 2007 alone, the state of Ohio granted $200 million to companies that met the criteria."

Fluskvalik and Bob Bowman, the deputy mayor, will come to "Biomed Israel Week 2008" which will be held at the end of May in Tel Aviv, in order to present the project and offer Israeli biomed companies to benefit from the support and financial support. They also propose collaborations between the researchers coming from Israel and the researchers located at the universities in Ohio. "The state of Ohio expresses a continuous and frequent interest in the start-up companies as well as in the mature Israeli companies, and the incentives vary depending on the size of the company, its stages, and the number of local employees planned to be employed by it," says Plovsovklik.

"ILSI - Biomed Israel 2008" week is the main event of the life sciences industry. It will be held this year (this is the seventh time) between May 27 and 29 at David Intercontinental and Dan Panorama in Tel Aviv. At the same time, two other events will be held: the 2nd International Conference on Stem Cell Research, and the ISRACAS 2008 Conference, the 11th Conference on Computer-Based Surgery, Medical Robotics and Medical Imaging. The Israeli Biomed Week is documented to attract, again this year, approximately 6,000 CEOs and senior executives of Biomed companies, scientists and researchers, managers of venture capital funds and angel investors, from Israel and abroad.
