The Director General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Space, Mr. Menachem Greenblum, ends his position.

Minister Perry requests to appoint in his place attorney Bina Bar-On, who served until recently as the CEO of the Authority for Industrial Cooperation.

The Minister of Science, Technology and Space, MK Yaakov Perry and the Director General of his Ministry, Menachem Greenblum, agreed today on the termination of Mr. Greenblum's position as Director General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Space.

Menachem Greenbloom, the outgoing director general, was appointed to the position three and a half years ago (12.2009) and chaired the committee to examine the national space plan, following which the space agency received an increased budget of NIS 180 million in the program for the next two years. Mr. Greenbloom also chairs the committee to examine the feasibility of building islands artificial off the coast of Israel for the benefit of national infrastructures which will submit the report to the government soon

"His contribution to the advancement of science, technology and space in the State of Israel is felt throughout his years of office. I cherish and thank Menachem Greenblum for a tenure full of achievements while establishing the field of research and development in Israel," said Minister Jacob Perry.

Attorney Bina Bar-On, 62 years old, married and mother of three, a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the Hebrew University. She is currently finishing her position as the Director General of the Industrial Cooperation Authority (Harshafat) in the Ministry of Economy after a successful term of about nine years, in accordance with the decision The government on tenure allocation in senior positions.
During Bar-On's tenure, the mutual procurement that foreign companies carry out in Israel was greatly expanded and it stands at over $22.5 billion. As a result of the activities of the Authority for Industrial Cooperation, hundreds of Israeli industrial enterprises, defense and civilian, benefited from business opportunities, partnerships, investments, new markets and the transfer of knowledge from foreign companies that engaged in mutual procurement.

Prior to that, Attorney Bar-On served for 15 years in a variety of positions in the Ministry of Environmental Protection, including: Deputy Director General of the Ministry, Senior Vice President for Administration and Human Resources, and Director of the Enforcement Department.

The appointment of attorney Bina Bar-On is subject to the approval of a committee headed by the State Service Commissioner and the approval of the government
