The Ministry of Health has asked the MDA to prepare to collect plasma doses from people who have recovered from the corona virus * The Vice President of Blood Services at the MDA, Prof. Eilat Shanar: "This week the FDA approved a similar protocol in the USA and the use of plasma from convalescents to fight the corona virus is already being carried out in China"
As part of the project, MDA will collect portions of plasma from people who have recovered from the corona virus to give them for transfusion therapy to the seriously ill. This is based on the assumption that those who have recovered from the disease have developed special proteins against the virus (antibodies) found in their plasma. Infusing these portions will provide patients with a "passive vaccine" that may help them cope with the disease.
In the past, plasma with antibodies was used for example in the treatment of patients among SARS patients during the outbreak in 2002 and in Israel a similar treatment was previously given to patients with West Nile fever. This week (24.3) the FDA approved a similar protocol in the USA.
The Vice President of Blood Services at MDA, Prof. Eilat Shanar: "Those who recover from the koruna disease (CoVID 19) will be invited to donate plasma using a special method (paresis method) in which only plasma is collected from the donor, and all other blood components are returned to him. This method exists in the blood services of MDA for over 30 years and thousands of volunteers donate blood components through it every day. In the first stage, the plasma portions will be used for transfusion therapy, but the goal is to collect enough plasma to prepare an antibody concentrate (immunoglobulin) in which the patients will be treated later. Of course, anyone who is invited to donate plasma must meet the Ministry of Health's criteria and requirements for donating blood."
The plasma collection can only be done after 14 days have passed after their full recovery and during these days the Ministry of Health addresses the convalescents in order to transfer their details to Magan David Adom. In addition, MDA's blood services call on convalescents who are willing to come and donate plasma to call 03-5300445.
The collection project is expected to begin in the coming days and will be carried out in the paresis unit, in the MDA blood services center, in the Tel Hashomer complex.
Director General of MDA, Eli Bin: "MDA is at the forefront of the fight against the corona virus in Israel and its people work day and night in responding to tens of thousands of applicants. These efforts are now being joined by an activity that is already being implemented in the world and is showing success to a certain extent, and we all hope that with joint forces and community discipline we will be able to overcome."

Assuming that the antibody treatment works and significantly lowers the mortality rate, is it not possible to produce the antibodies synthetically/in a laboratory, there have been antibody treatments for cancer for many years, is it not possible in this case to produce the antibody to corona synthetically in very large quantities?
As I wrote in response to Roi Tsezana's article dated March 26.3 here in Bidan:-
"Another thing to pay attention to is the zero mortality of the young, maybe there lies the solution for a vaccine or a medicine" end of quote.
Good night
And good luck

Regardless, everyone who has recovered from Corona should be given permission just like essential workers. and allow them to roam freely
About 50 years ago I donated two doses of plasma (in one day!) after recovering from chicken pox. Back then there was no vaccine, and anyone who contracted the disease while having a damaged immune system, for example during cancer treatment, would simply die. The plasma probably helped save some people.
