As part of the innovation and technology event innovation 2013 To be held today (26/6/13) at Ben Gurion University in the Negev. The event will be attended by top-class lecturers in the field of entrepreneurship and high-tech, entrepreneurship and technology guru Dr. David Sharid, CEO of Google Israel, Meir Brand, CEO of the EMC Center of Excellence, Dr. Erna Berry.
At the conference, hundreds of developments by university students from various fields will be presented - among the developments, the autonomous submarine will be presented.
The submarine, developed by engineering students from the university, is an innovative development and will represent Israel in the prestigious robotics competition (auvsi) held in Washington
The autonomous submarine
A group of 20 engineering students from Ben Gurion University initiated and formed a team that participated in the RoboSub International Robotics Competition on behalf of the AUVSI. Construction of the first autonomous submarine of its kind in Israel, which will answer the needs of research and underwater services in the future.
As of today, there are remotely operated submarines that play an important role in the maritime industry, which includes checking the integrity and soundness of underwater pipes, mapping underwater minefields, searching for possible places to lay communication cables, searching for sunken vessels and exploring the secrets of the ocean. At the same time, it is important to recognize that these marine vessels have an effectiveness limited by a communication cable and a permanent connection to a human operator. Because of this, an autonomous underwater vehicle will be an important tool for carrying out the above tasks. Accordingly, we realized that there is a need for an autonomous submarine that will be equipped with an intelligent navigation system that will include functions for planning a mission, avoiding obstacles and making decisions that does not fall short of the quality of a human operator. And because this is what we aspired to after the competition is to continue to develop the robot and bring the submarine to a real capacity that will put the State of Israel at the forefront of technology In the development of autonomous marine tools as was done in the past in the air field.
The project started in May 2012 and the target completion date was May 2013
Submarine specifications:
The size of the submarine is about one and a half meters and it weighs 40 kg. There are 6 engines on the submarine which give it high maneuverability in 5 axes and a speed of up to 2 meters per second. Also on the submarine is a robotic arm which enables various complex operations. The submarine works in a way Completely independent and not dependent on an external operator, there is a computer on it that knows how to process and analyze in real time its position in space and the phase of the mission it is in. The submarine moves autonomously and knows how to calculate its trajectory and follow it independently. It can anticipate problems and plan ways to deal with them.

Space has 6 axes - 3 for position and 3 angles. The intention in 5 axes of movement is a bit complicated. The vehicle has 2 axes of movement: forward/backward and left to right. A conventional airplane has 4 axes of movement: the longitudinal axis (engine), and 3 angular axes (2 in the stick and one in the pedals). There are helicopters that have 5 axes of movement: forward/backward, up/down and 3 more angles (rolling, rolling and spinning).
I assume that this submarine has the same axes of movement as the helicopter I described: I can roll the submarine, move the bow up/down and left to right and it is possible to change the height of the float (but this is a hypothesis...)

If you had read the article, you wouldn't have turned out to be a fool....
This submarine is a barrel…
I don't know how to do anything!
A lot of PR for nothing
It is worth thinking about another use of this submarine and that is maritime archaeology. In the last decades, cities that have sunk into the sea have been discovered. One of the famous places is Biogeni in Okinawa Japan.
NH,
I guess that is what it means:

Apparently submarines don't have roll
What is meant by movement in 5 axes, in space there are only 3.
