Continuing to save the planet: organization TEAM Continues to buy areas where species are in danger of extinction - this time, 7,000 dunams of wild jungle in the Amazon * Among the species that are in danger of extinction and live in the new area that will become a nature reserve: the spectacled bear, the white-bellied monkey and the jaguar

The organization TIME (short for This Is My Earth) continues its journey to save species in danger of extinction, when in the annual crowdfunding campaign it managed to raise the amount needed to purchase and save 7000 dunams of wild jungle in the upper Amazon in Peru - home to the spectacled bear, white-bellied monkey and jaguar, All are at different levels of extinction. With the purchase, the area will become a nature reserve under the management of the local people, members of the Haimbrasbamba campesino community. "The area that will be purchased will be a critical component in the protection of an area known as Royal Sun Angles Gardens. Beyond the great importance of the forest as part of the Amazon drainage basin, it is a habitat for a huge variety of plants and animals that are in danger and in need of protection," said Prof. Uri Shains, from the Department of Biology and around Haifa University in Oranim, the founder of Time.
TIME was founded about three years ago by Prof. Shines from Haifa University, who was joined by Prof. Alon Tal from Tel Aviv University, as an international democratic organization where everyone is invited to donate according to their ability - starting with one dollar - where everyone has an equal voice, no matter how much they contributed. Each year, the members of the organization are presented with three areas from around the world selected by the scientific committee and in which there is a wide range of endangered species, and the members choose one area that can be purchased and turned into a nature reserve, under the management of a local organization.
Last year the organization purchased the first area - a reserve in the Peruvian Andes. This year the members were presented with the new area up the Amazon in Peru, alongside areas in Kenya and Belize - and this time the Peruvian area won the most votes (about 50% of the votes). As mentioned, among the animals that this is their living area and are in danger of extinction can be found the spectacled bear, white-bellied monkey, night monkey, jaguar, and a variety of birds such as the spectacular blue hummingbird after which the area is named: Royal San Angel.

The current area will protect not only the animals, but also the local community, members of the Heimbrasbamba campesino community. According to Prof. Shines, their village, La Primavera, which is a day and a half's walk from the reserve, depends for its existence on these forest areas since the forest allows the continued regular flow of water in the streams as well as the electricity that is produced there in a clean manner from a small hydroelectric station that provides the village's basic needs the remote The transformation of the new area that will be purchased into a nature reserve will help them in protecting them from loggers and hunters.
"As we mentioned when we set out, 2.3% of the earth's surface is defined as a 'hot zone' where there is a rich biological diversity where animal and plant species are in danger of extinction, therefore even the relatively small areas we purchase can make a significant contribution to the protection of many species. The fact that in our first two campaigns We were able to show that there are enough people around the world who are willing to volunteer for the important cause, which is very encouraging and gives us a lot of optimism to educational institutions, from elementary to university level, in order to teach about the dangers of the rate of deforestation in the world and the extinction of species. TIME's goal beyond conveying the message is to give students the tools to get involved and allow them to experience the satisfaction of being active in saving the planet," Prof. Sheins concluded.

For those who have responded so far and others who are interested:
1. This is a reserve for everything protected by the locals. The locals, on the other hand, understand very much the importance of the place as a reserve, because they experience firsthand what happens when nature is not preserved. They teach their children to take good care of their environment. In any case, There is also a legal contract with those responsible for the reserve, they are obliged to maintain the place, there are consequences.
2. 7000 dunams is a very respectable area that allows people to at least know that they are safe in a certain area. It is an excellent area for breeding and foraging for food. In addition, as mentioned, this reserve closes a hole that exists in a larger reserve and thus enables a huge sequence of reserved area.
Well done to all volunteer members and entrepreneurs!
How can buying 7,000 dunams save anything? It is possible to build a village there, but it is not a large enough area to support large animals.
Nice, but the villages that live inside the reserves are also destroying them. They hunt animals and use resources
