Solar eclipse in Antalya - special report on the site of the science * A selection of sites for organized viewing
concentration of sources
In preparation for the solar eclipse tomorrow, we bring you a concentration of all the sites where it will be possible to watch the eclipse. Some of the news have already been published.
The Raschi Mada Association is also preparing for the solar eclipse tomorrow.
First of Science supports observation in more than 100 schools across the country. From Beit Shan in the north to Kiryat Gat in the south. The association has developed for these schools a typical observation array including 5 positions as detailed below:
• Projection position - in the frame, the image of the sun is projected on a screen and enables group observation without protective measures.
• Goggles position - for direct observation
• "Camera Obscura" position - for observation and experiments using self-projection through the pinhole.
• Telescope position - for observation with a shielded telescope.
• Position of a solar system model - for a theoretical explanation

Haifa: a city with many possibilities
At the National Museum of Science, Technology and Space in Haifa they are preparing for a particularly big event. At the observation point in the museum, the shadow will begin to cover the surface of the sun in about an hour
11:40 and the sun will be fully exposed again at approximately 14:00. At the time of the event, approximately 500 children of the Association for Excellence in Education, who participate in the "Space Club", are expected to arrive. The club includes students from 12 schools from different sectors in the northern region (Julis, Usafia, Dalit El Carmel, Haifa, Tiberias, Nazareth, Nesher and the Kiryat). In the afternoon, installations called sun spotters, designed to track sunspots, will be placed in the museum yard, and in this event will be used to view the eclipse. Also, students will be able to watch the eclipse using about 100 pairs of special glasses designed for this purpose.
Among the activities planned at the museum: a lecture on the eclipse, a lecture on superstitions related to the eclipses, viewing the movie "Journey to the Universe" at CinmaticX - the museum's multiplex cinema, viewing the planetarium screenings, making a rotating star map and a tour of one of the museum's exhibitions.
* The track association invites the public to watch the eclipse from the courtyard of the Faculty of Aeronautics and the Technion square. During the observation, explanations will be given and special glasses for viewing the eclipse will be sold at a nominal price.
The event will take place starting from the beginning of the eclipse: 11:38, the peak of the eclipse: 12:57, the end of the eclipse: 14:14. Warning: Do not observe the sun without appropriate protective measures: viewing the sun without protective measures can cause irreversible eye damage and even blindness
Ort Motzkin "Following the Disappearing Sun"
Bauert Motzkin invites the public to "experience the event in an unusual and almost mystical way with scientific experiences around the solar eclipse". There will be telescopes for direct viewing of the sun, a "singing sun", a rocket launch competition of the space club, a large screen on which the solar eclipse will be projected, viewing of the animals in the animal park during the eclipse - and other activities. Entry to all events is free and free of charge.
The students of Ort Motzkin invented the "Chemical Garden" experiment conducted by the late astronaut Ilan Ramon in January 2003. This experiment was chosen from dozens of experiments proposed by organizations and schools from Israel and abroad. The project was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Amira Birnbaum, director of the Eshkol Hafis Science Center of Ort Motzkin and accompanied by a team from the Technion. The 34 students who worked on the experiment met with the late Ilan Ramon in the past and 5 of them were even present at the launch of the space shuttle in Florida and the great tragedy that followed
On Wednesday, March 29.3.06, 12, starting at 00:04 in the afternoon, the space club of the middle school in "Ort Motzkin" will hold a unique event for the general public with a mystical tone "Ort Motzkin following the disappearing sun". The event will include fascinating scientific experiences around the solar eclipse. It will be held in the large zoo-park complex in Kiryat Motzkin under the auspices of the Kiryat Motzkin municipality, the Ministry of Science and Bank Hapoalim. The event will be held in the presence of Mr. Haim Tzuri, Mayor of Kiryat Motzkin; Shlomo Nechama, Chairman of Bank Hapoalim and Mr. Avi Anati, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Science. For details about the event, you can contact the phone number: 8750147-XNUMX.
There will be four telescopes that will be placed at the disposal of the audience: three telescopes for direct viewing of the sun (which include radiation filters of the types: hydrogen alpha, K-CALCIUM and 8 inch robotic), and another telescope that will direct the eclipse to a huge screen that will be available to viewers where they can watch the eclipse with the naked eye. As you know, you should not observe the sun without appropriate protective measures, observing the sun without appropriate protective measures can cause irreversible damage to the eye and even blindness, this includes sunglasses, photographic films, X-ray negatives and more.
Another intriguing event that will take place there is "Singing Sun". Scientists translated the vibration of the sun's mass to create a movement which they translated into sound waves of different frequencies. During the event, the vibrations will be translated into sound waves and we will receive a "singing sun" - the music created by the sun. Another event that will take place there is the space club's model rocket launching competition. The students of the space club of Yonatan middle school will launch rockets that they built as part of the club. These are missiles built according to physical laws and are capable of flying to a height of around 50 meters.
On the event island, they will receive a personal device for viewing the solar eclipse, and will be able to observe the behavior of the animals during the eclipse. There is a theory that claims that the solar eclipse may affect the behavior of the animals in the eclipse area. The animal park is full of different types of birds and animals, and as part of the event there will be an observation of the animals on the spot.
Observations in universities
In the plaza of the student house at Ben Gurion University in Be'er Sheva, there will be an observation that is open to the general public. The observation will start at 11:00 and will last until 14:30. Entry to the events is free, and recommended for all ages.
At the Hebrew University, there is a special happening for science-seeking youth, at the Edmond Y. Safra campus in Givat Ram. As part of the event, there will be a four-hour activity that will start at 09:30, continue throughout the eclipse and end at 14:13 at the end of the eclipse. It should be noted that the activity is not open to the general public, but to organized classes by prior arrangement only.
The students will observe the solar eclipse through special glasses, use a sophisticated solar telescope and learn about other methods of observing the sun. They will also listen to a lecture on the solar system, with an emphasis on the causes of solar eclipses and their uniqueness, emphasize the importance of the sun and learn about man's attempts to explore it and use its energy.
On the day of the eclipse, the Youth in Science Project (YSMAD) at the Weizmann Institute will open the Astronomy Club to the general public. As part of the event, there will be a lecture under the title "Partial Solar Eclipse: What, Why and When" at 12:00 and 12:50. Other activities: Observation Telescopes, viewing with goggles, workshops for young people, discounted admission to the Science Garden for those interested. Moderator: Dr. Daniel to knead Place: Avner Hall, Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot. The entrance is free of charge. Target audience: the general public.
Mount Bental: sunset at noon today
The solar eclipse will be best observed in the Golan Mountains region. The tourism department at "Marom Golan" will make available to visitors, free of charge, professional astronomical guidance accompanied by explanations during the eclipse. In addition, it will be possible to purchase instead browned glass suitable for safe viewing to maintain the health of the eyes.
Due to the high eclipse percentages from the Golan Mountains region, preparations are being made in the Marom Golan Tourism Department to receive observers and astronomy enthusiasts who will flock to the observation site on Mount Bental (1200 meters above sea level) on the day of the eclipse. Eran Glick, the director of tourism in Marom Golan, says that "Due to its height, Mount Bental is considered one of the best sites for viewing the solar eclipse. The views around and the feeling of touching the sky contribute to intensifying the experience."
