Yesterday, Tel Aviv University awarded, in the capacity of the President of the State, Moshe Katsav, the Dan David Prize in the amount of three million dollars, to scientists and creators, according to three dimensions of time: past, present and future.
In the dimension of the past, the prize in paleo-anthropology (the study of ancient man) was awarded to Prof. Michel Bruna from France. In the current dimension, in the field of media and journalism, the award is shared between two winners - the American photojournalist James Nachtavi, and the documentary filmmaker, Frederick Wiseman, also from the USA. In the dimension of the future - cosmology and astronomy - he won the Prof. John N. Beckel, a visiting lecturer at Princeton University.
