The Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University awarded the Tofur Prize for 2022 to two outstanding medical students: Orin Koren (Gordon) and Tomer Regev. The "Hava and Shimon Tofur" prize is awarded every year to students who have excelled in their studies, in their attitude towards patients and patients and who have made a significant contribution to the community

Orin Koren (Gordon), a fifth-year student in the six-year program, combines her studies with extensive social activity within the "Ilani Hesed" association, an association that helps needy families in Givat Shmuel and the surrounding area in various ways.

The excited Orin said: "I thank the members of the committee for choosing me. Volunteering at "Ilani Chesed" alongside my medical studies fills me with energy and great satisfaction. The combination of the two worlds strengthens my ability to recognize the plight of the other and treat it with sensitivity."

Tomer Segev, a sixth-year student in the six-year program, has been volunteering for the past four years at a clinic in Jaffa operated by the "Doctors for Human Rights" organization. As part of his volunteering at the clinic, Tomer takes care of the disadvantaged who are not medically insured and need medical assistance.

Tomer Segev: "I am grateful for winning the prestigious award, which is largely based on volunteering. In my case, volunteering at the clinic for the underprivileged of the organization "Doctors for Human Rights", gives me great satisfaction since every shift I feel I get the opportunity to help patients in need Due to the inaccessibility of medical services for them."

The awarding ceremony was held at the Faculty of Medicine in the presence of the donors, Chava and Shimon Topor, Rector of the University, Prof. Mark Steif, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Ehud Grossman, Deputy Dean and Head of the School of Medicine Prof. Iris Barshak, Prof. Danny Oppenheim and the award winners and their families .
