The Rashi Foundation was established in 1984 by Gustav Levan (1914-2008), a businessman from a family with a long philanthropic heritage, who devoted most of his fortune to the strengthening of the State of Israel. Gustav's nephew Hubert Levan, and his son Francois, the foundation's president, continue his path Initiating and leading change-making social ventures, the fund has eight member associations who specialize in different content worlds, and a professional headquarters that manages national projects and leads the activity with an overall vision. The director general of the fund is Michal Cohen, former director general of the Ministry of Education.
