Scientists claim that around 160 people die every year worldwide as a result of global warming. In most cases it is death from malaria or malnutrition, and according to the scientists this number may double by 2020.
The study, conducted by scientists from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, reveals that children in developing countries are the most vulnerable to the damage of global warming. "We estimate that climate change is already causing about 160 deaths a year," said Professor Andrew Haynes, one of the researchers, at a climate change conference in Moscow.
Prof. Haynes added that "the burden of diseases caused by global warming may be doubled by the year 2020".
