Cooperation between the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Defense, the National Science Foundation, and the National Science Foundation, for the establishment of a research fund on science and quantum technologies
The field of quantum science and technologies is a strategic field that is experiencing accelerated growth in the world. The Ministries of Defense, Finance and Science, the Ministry of Defense and the Israel Innovation Authority are currently formulating a national plan for the field of quantum, with the first step being the establishment of a research fund on quantum science and technologies that will form the basis of an ecosystem in the field - this is a collaboration of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Defense and the National Science Fund. An amount of NIS 100 million was allocated for the benefit of the fund for five years.
The purpose of the program is to support outstanding research groups at universities in Israel, which will engage in research and development in the field of quantum science and technology. The support will be expressed in the provision of significant grants, on the order of approximately NIS 75 million, to researchers. These grants will be used to finance research expenses and the purchase or upgrade of equipment required for the benefit of the research. The remaining amount will be directed to the development of the field according to MPA's considerations.
The chairperson of VT, Prof. Yaffe Zilbrashtz: "VT has defined quantum science and technology as the flagship of the world of research in Israel, alongside focused medicine and data science. There is no doubt that the development of quantum research is very essential to the economy and security of the State of Israel, and it is It is expected to lead to a significant leap forward in Israeli research capabilities and leadership in the international arena. At the same time, the global race is already in full swing, the various countries are investing huge sums in the development of the field, and if we don't run forward, the State of Israel will be left behind."
Brigadier General (Res.) Dr. Daniel Gold, head of the Ministry of Defense: "The Israeli ecosystem knows how to provide creative solutions to the complex challenges facing the defense establishment. The field of quantum has been in global growth in recent years, and it is expected to change the way we examine reality in routine and emergency situations in many aspects such as navigation, immune communication, computation on superpowers, and more. Israel, which has become a power in the cyber field, looks at the quantum field as a strategic goal to become a major player in the world market."
The chairman of the National Science Foundation, Prof. Benny Giger: "The new program will allow Israeli researchers to enter with great momentum a field of research that on the one hand has tremendous, basic and applied potential, and on the other hand - is new and still in the making, and thus to be among the pioneers and leaders of the field in the world ".
MFAAT in the Ministry of Defense has been active in the field of quantum technologies for many years, and works to exploit the unique advantages of these technologies as a response to significant operational needs. MFAAT is the Ministry's representative in formulating the national program in the field of quantum science and technology in Israel. "Already today, significant applied use is being made of some of the quantum phenomena in the advanced technological developments of the defense system," says the leader of the program at the Mashbat, Dr. David from MPAAT. Today seemed imaginary. The quantum theory has had many successes in the last hundred years, it was able to explain the structure of matter - the atom, the molecule, the chemical bonds, the solid matter, the crystals, etc. The quantum theory provided the basis for developments such as the transistor, the laser, light detectors, fast communication, precise clocks which are the basis of the satellite navigation system, medical imaging methods such as MRI, etc. The use of Torah has been tested in many experiments Unprecedented accuracy in matching the prediction with the results of the experiments."
The VTA believes that a significant and consistent investment at the national level in the development of the field of quantum science and technology, and in particular in the development of its research infrastructure, is expected to lead to a significant leap forward in Israeli research capabilities and Israel's position at the forefront of global knowledge in the field. The steering committee, which formulated the plan for the next five years, is headed by Prof. Uri Sion (Faculty of Physics at the Technion) and next to him members of the committee the best academic experts in the field.
As part of the research fund, the field of "Quantum Science and Technology" will include the following topics: quantum computation, quantum communication, simulation using quantum systems, quantum instruments and sensors such as atomic clocks, magnetic field meters and other meters, quantum materials, such as topological materials and quantum engineered materials for display Special features, fundamentals of quantum theory with implications for future technologies and innovative quantum science and technologies.
More of the topic in Hayadan:
- The national program for quantum computing is essential for Israel to remain at the forefront of science and technology
- Israel will invest in a quantum computing system for security issues
- "There is still a need to investigate how error correction can be performed before a universal quantum computer can be built"
One response
Interesting and challenging, I would love to receive more updates.
Thanks
