The Minister of Science, Daniel Hershkovitz, decided to regulate the appointment of the members of the MoLMOP plenum

Appointments of council members have been delayed since August 2008 ● At the meeting of the Knesset's Science and Technology Committee, Hershkovitz repeated his claim that the MOLMP would be careful to advise the Minister of Science and not the government as a whole, but he promised to assist in creating an organizational framework that would regulate the council's independent status and the appointment of its members

The Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz, decided to regulate the appointment of the members of the MOLMP plenum. At the meeting of the Science and Technology Committee of the Knesset, the minister claimed that the role of the council is to advise the Minister of Science and Technology only, and not the entire government; However, Hershkowitz announced that he will act without any further delay for the official approval of the appointments in the plenary council, which have been delayed since August 2008.

As I recall, the council announced a few weeks ago the suspension of its activities until it gains the status of an independent council - preferably within the Prime Minister's Office, and not within the Ministry of Science, which is only one of their offices it is supposed to advise. Minister Hershkovitz announced that by the end of March he will handle the creation of an organizational framework that will ensure the independent status of the MoLMOP, and will regulate its activities vis-à-vis all government ministries - independent of the Ministry of Science.

The MOLMP plenum, which convened immediately after the joint discussion with the Minister of Science, expressed hope that the Minister's promises would indeed be implemented, and decided to wait with its current activities until the approval and renewal of the appointments of its members.
