In preparation for World Oceans Day, which will be celebrated today, yesterday the Leon Charney School of Marine Sciences at the University of Haifa in cooperation with the "Israeli Sports Diving Association" held an operation to clean the marine environment in the area of the beaches of Sdot Yam, when the men and women of the school added an underwater cleaning operation to the well-known beach cleaning maritime.

Dozens of male and female students along with a team of researchers from the school took part in the cleanup operation and collected large amounts of garbage whose environmental damage is very great.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Diving Association and the Society for the Protection of Nature invite divers for clean diving

In honor of International Oceans Day, which will begin on June 8, a series of underwater cleaning diving activities will be held in the Mediterranean and Red Seas, funded by the Ministry of Environmental Protection as part of the "Clean Beach" program. The cleanup dives will be led by the "Sea Guard" of the Israel Diving Association in cooperation with the Nature and Parks Authority. A registration and information point will be operated at each center where the divers who have pre-registered for diving will receive diving equipment and weights and will receive a safety briefing for diving and a professional explanation regarding marine waste and marine reserves.

You are invited to join the cleaning dive, take part in the activity and hear about marine waste, about the importance of cleaning the beaches and removing disposable waste from them.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection's clean beach program includes budgetary support that the ministry provides to coastal authorities in order to keep the sea and beaches clean.

One response

  1. Since submarines will not participate in the cleanup
After all, in the picture you see divers
Not "divers" who are crew members on a submarine...
Anyone who enters the water with or without breathing equipment is a diver,
Anyone who claims otherwise will have to explain how to differentiate
Between crew members in a submarine to a submarine...
