The destruction of the orangutan's natural habitats by illegal loggers may lead to the extinction of these great apes within ten to twenty years. That's what a researcher from Harvard University said yesterday. She said, "We may wake up in twenty years and find that orangutans are extinct." Orangutans live almost exclusively on the tops of trees and feed on their fruits. According to Knott, hundreds of trees were cut down in her study area alone.
