Drivez Company (drivz), provider of a software platform for managing electric vehicle charging, announced today its acquisition by Bidi Vontier, a global industrial technology company, focused on transportation and mobility solutions.

Dreivaz will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary, fully owned by Vontier, and managed by founder and CEO Doron Frankel.

Until its purchase for an undisclosed amount, Drayvez raised about 33 million dollars, from the investment fund of Vontier, Centrica, Ombu, INVEN and Volvo Group.

Dreybaz CEO Doron Frankel says in an interview with the science website that although charging an electric car seems like a simple matter, there are a lot of actions that need to be done behind the scenes.

"Today, in order to refuel a car, we have to go to a gas station. The electric vehicle is charged wherever it is - at home, at work, everywhere. Therefore, the charging posts become a major factor and we need to take care of their stability.

On the one hand, the charging posts need to connect to the vehicle with special communication protocols, and on the other hand, they are not very stable - they have many faults and many features that can be used. We know how to manage them remotely, for example to check if the charger is working or not. The systems we have developed know not only how to identify the faults but also how to fix them remotely using what is known as "self-healing".

"We provide drivers with an application that will allow them to know where the nearest charging station is, pay for charging, and more. The solutions we provide operators are designed to improve the network itself, as well as solutions for energy management, billing and roaming (as in cellular). All the end-to-end solutions that an operator needs in order to operate a charging network and make a profit from her."

How do you charge for charging in a shared house?

"Beyond solutions for operators and drivers, we provide solutions for ecosystems - vehicle fleets, shared residences, private homes, municipalities, car manufacturers... For example, when a tenant brings a charger into a shared home, who will pay for the electricity? How will the distribution be done? There is also a similar problem in office buildings, and it is added to it The complication of availability, that is, is there enough energy for all the loads at any given moment, and if not, how to distribute it among the various customers in the building, for example in our building in the Hi-Tech Park There are three floors of parking. If the electric car runs out on the minus one floor, for example, our system knows how many cars can be charged at the same time and divides the charge between the cars for the day, depending on the specific needs of the driver - returning home at the end of the day or traveling to work.

When there is not enough electricity, we can integrate batteries that we charge during the night and discharge during the day.

The meaning of the term "operating system" is an end-to-end software solution for all the services that a charging provider needs to provide, starting with the operative management of billing, the solutions for drivers, condominiums, fleets, municipalities and gas and electricity infrastructure companies, where our customers can choose which module of the system they will use .” Frankel explains.

"The gas companies are entering the field of recharging because it is estimated that the recharging that will take place at a gas station will constitute only 3% of the total recharging, another 10% of recharging will be done in public places such as Blue and White,

Today we operate on all continents. The customers are charging providers such as Easy Go, the largest company in the USA as well as the largest operator in Japan, in the Volvo truck division and more. The automotive industry is now undergoing tectonic movements. While around the world electric car sales are progressing rapidly, when there are countries such as Norway, where this year no longer It will be possible to buy old generation cars, as well as the rest of Europe and China, and even the USA where President Biden announced an investment in electric car charging systems, progress in the country is very slow." Frankel estimates that the reason is the burn that Better Place car owners received after the company's crash. We have big customers in Israel as well and I hope we can help them close the gap with the world."

How many employees does Drivez have?

Today the company has about 70 employees and we need to double this number in various areas of development activities, product management and customer care.

The next step in order to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions will be the use of cars for the purpose of regulating energy production. In any case, today we allow the system to decide when to charge each car, and this can also be done at the national level, but in the next step we will also propose the opposite direction: transferring energy from the cars to the electricity grid, thereby regulating consumption and saving on the construction of power plants. In this way, we will be able to significantly reduce air pollution and make our contribution to the fight against the climate crisis. We have a mission to make the planet greener. This is what motivates our employees who know that their work makes a difference.

"Vontier believes that the next decade will bring with it the most significant changes in global transportation since the invention of the automobile. Today, clean and efficient fueling technology is necessary," said Mark Morley, President and CEO of Vontier. long term growth. The acquisition contributes to our ability to take advantage of business opportunities in the global market for electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Drivez provides leading technologies in the growing and profitable market segment of charging network management software. We are happy to offer our customers the best software of its kind that is hardware agnostic, and the ability to continue to influence the consumer experience."
