Kampala (IP). The Ugandan police, who are struggling with a lack of equipment after discovering another row of mass graves in the church complex where members of the Doomsday sect were locked up and burned, intend to check another fenced area where more bodies may be found. The number of victims has now risen to 924.

This number has already exceeded the number of people killed in the tragedy that happened in '78 in Johnstown, in the jungles of Guyana. Then 913 cult members were murdered in the city.

The authorities said that they are committed to arresting those responsible for the stabbing, burning and strangling of the cult members, but it is not clear if the investigators will be able to track down the cult leaders. Ugandan police are seeking international arrest warrants for Joseph Kiwatara, Kardonia Mwarinda and three other leaders of the sect. It is not clear if all managed to escape.
