At the Science Museum in London, a journey to Middle-earth, as designed in the "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy by director Peter Jackson, will open on the 16th. In the exhibition, it will be possible to explore the enchanted world of orcs, dwarves, evil and good wizards, warriors and girls of the night, with the help of hundreds of props and costumes that were used in the production of the films.
Weapons, armor, hobbit legs and orc teeth will be on display at the exhibition, as well as original costumes such as the beaded dress worn by Galadriel, the beautiful and dangerous daughter of Lilith, played by Cate Blanchett, and the cloak and hat of Gandalf, the powerful wizard played by Ian McKellen.
Visitors will be greeted by puppets in the likeness and size of Frodo Baggins the hobbit, who takes on the task of destroying the ring, Gimli, the hot-headed dwarf, and others.
The interesting part of the exhibition - and the reason for its presentation at the Science Museum - will focus on the revelation of some of the technological secrets that brought Middle-earth to life in the cinema: the computer software that created the special effects, the way in which the filmmakers managed to transform actors of normal size into hobbits that do not exceed one meter in height, and of course the way The complexity in which the character of Gollum was resurrected - that crazy creature created by a combination of human play and computer images.
The Science Museum in London will be the only European stop for the exhibition, which arrived from New Zealand. It will be on display there until January 11, after which it will wander to Singapore, Sydney and Boston.
