Understanding the connection between the brain and behavior, and especially understanding the processes that underlie the various deficiencies in brain functions, those that give rise to neurological and other disorders, is considered one of the greatest challenges of science in the 21st century. Groups of researchers all over the world have found that there is tremendous potential here for the development of healing methods, treatment and drugs - to deal with these deficiencies.
To this end, the new interdisciplinary center for brain and behavior research has now been established at the University of Haifa. He will engage in basic and pre-medical research. The research that will be done there will emphasize biological-molecular aspects in learning-disabled people or in those who suffer from behavioral disorders.
The direction chosen by the center is unique: studies from the psychobiological angle. Introducing psychological questions when the explanation strives to get answers from the biological side. The head of the new center, Prof. Gal Richter-Levin, said that the research expected to be carried out in it will be based on the study of the human brain and its behavior, the construction of behavioral and physiological models of animals (which have implications for humans) and also work in the molecular biochemical field.
