The operation of the Atlantis team in construction work on the International Space Station has been completed

Astronauts from the space shuttle Atlantis completed work yesterday to add a 14-meter beam to the International Space Station. The works are part of the construction of a larger beam with a rail on it, 105 meters long. In the photo: the astronauts perform a "spacewalk" outside the station.

American astronauts David Wolf and Pierre Sellers began their first spacewalk on Thursday evening, at 17:21 PM Israel time. Their main task is to finally assemble and operate the new component S1 which is assembled mainly with the help of the station's robotic arm.
Their task includes connecting power and data cables between the station and S1, installing a camera and antenna, and releasing several cuffs that were installed to protect the new wing during its launch on the space shuttle.
Wolff and Sellers received assistance from the shuttle Atlantis and the International Space Station. Shuttle Commander Jeff Ashby and Flight Attendant Pam Melroy operate Atlantis' robotic arm. Mallory and Russian cosmonaut Fyodor Yurkhikin coordinate the spacewalk activities. The other two, Sandy Magnus and Peggy Whitson are in the control room of the robotic arm.
On their way to space, the astronauts made a little history when a camera was installed on the outside of one of the shuttle's boosters that showed from the outside what the takeoff looked like.

very happy

Peggy Whitson, the American astronaut who has spent 130 days in space, says she is very happy. If she regrets anything, it's only the fact that she took too much with her
Shrimp.

"Sometimes, when you get to space, your taste changes," said Whitson, who is staying on the International Space Station. "One of my favorite foods on earth is shrimp, but here
Upstairs, I just can't stand it."

It turns out that Whitson planned to eat more than 40 shrimp meals while in space. "The guys here are actually happy that I changed my taste, because they accept all my shrimp," she says, referring to the two Russian team members with her, Valery Kurzon and Sergey Treshchiov.

Earlier this week, the three team members held a joint press conference with six astronauts from the space shuttle Atlantis. "I really enjoy it here, it's fun to live here and do science," said Whitson, a biochemist by profession. "I miss my husband, but apart from that I really feel at home here."
