Will the dinosaur puzzle be solved in Pakistan?

Scientists hope that dinosaur fossils found in Pakistan will shed light on the mystery of their disappearance from the earth

Dinosaur remains have been discovered for the first time in Pakistan, and scientists hope that the 70-million-year-old fossils will help solve the mystery of the species' disappearance from the earth.

Geologists said yesterday (Saturday) that the fossils, which include legs and a vertebra from the end of the Cretaceous era - shortly before the disappearance of the dinosaurs - were found in Barkan province in the country.

Abdul Latif, director of the Geological Institute in the country, said that the remains of the reptile were found in the sediment from the period close to the time of their extinction. According to Latif, the findings can also shed light on how the dinosaur population grew.

The accepted theory in recent years is that the disappearance of the dinosaurs was caused by the collision of the earth with a meteor, which caused the formation of a cloud of dust that cooled the earth.

According to Latif, the discovery may also shed light on fluctuations in sea level and precipitation during that period, which could help in the search for oil and gas in the country
